AfSL wins new Energy Academy contract

Action for Sustainable Living has secured a new 10-month contact to supply domestic energy behavioural change support to tenants of Southway Housing Trust.

The work will build on the Energy Academy advanced  pilot delivered for Southway between October 2011 and March 2012

 

The new programme see AfSL’s Energy Academy team:

• Recruit, train and support up to 60 Tenant Energy Champions
• Deliver up to 200 Energy Doctor home energy audit visits
• Host community energy workshops
• Undertake comprehensive monitoring of behavioural change

Energy Academy goes from strength to strength

 

The new contract with Southway, represents another leap forward for the Energy Academy programme, which commenced only 8 months ago, thanks to seed funding from City Council.

In that time eight housing-sector organsaitions, across four Greater Borough’s, have benefited from staff and resident training and support in how to cascade learning in cutting energy use and bills.

“The Energy Academy is a great example of how an initial small grant can be used to develop a fledgling social business that creates jobs, tackles fuel poverty and cuts carbon emissions”, said Simon Robinson, Energy Academy Programme Manager, “As with all of AfSL’s projects, the Energy Academy’s success has been down to the passion and dedication of the staff team who’ve been superb in engaging, enthusing and supporting tenants throughout Greater ”.
