Climate Change: it's time to prepare Start: 10:30 am End: 5:00 pm A day of workshops, debates and discussions about Climate Change. The list of workshops is up, with details of each one. www.manchesterclimateforum.org.uk/workshopsindex.html The keynote speaker is Professor Roy Alexander, talking about Ashton Hayes, (the village in Cheshire that is trying to go carbon neutral.) Other sessions (there are almost 20) include "Women and children first? Gender and Climate Change", "Corporate Strategy: not just Greenwash", "Aviation and Manchester: Joined at the Hip?" and "Religious perspectives on Climate Change." Manchester Climate Forum Workshops Start: 11:00 am End: 5:00 pm A day of workshops, discussions and debates about how we prepare for Climate Change. Fairtrade Market Start: 12:00 pm End: 6:00 pm .A fairly-traded market in Piccadilly Gardens will pull some of the more unusual or interesting merchandise together in one place; from cotton tees and babywear to fair-trade smoothies which will be offered for tasting. Student Eco-Day Start: 2:00 pm End: 10:30 pm Oak House will be hosting an eco-weekend which will consist of an eco-swap shop on saturday from 1:00 - 4:30, whereby the residents of the halls will be swapping anything and everything in an attempt to reduce the amount of waste that students create. There will also be lots of information and freebies, and on Sunday, at 7:30 an eco-quiz with a juicy cash prize. It's bound to be a lot of fun and will hopefully be a really educational and pro-active day. Dreams of an African Child Start: 8:00 pm End: 11:00 pm A performance as part of fairtrade fortnight.
