War on Waste Old Trafford (WOW OT) is launching a new initiative/campaign and is focusing its efforts on making sure that plastic bag use in Old Trafford is reduced to a minimum.
Come down and get your hands dirty at Chorlton's community allotment project - The Lost Plot!
We will be tackling the beautiful greenhouse this sunday, to get it ready for the summers bounty.

Mid-Summer Quiz, testing contestants knowledge of nature and local
history.
The quiz is open to all
and features prizes including especiially designed t-shirts and
wholefood hampers.
All proceeds go to Save Swallows Wood and for those taking the train to
Glossop or Manchester we'll be finished before the last train.

We are planning a visit to Hebden Bridge's Alternative Technology Centre followed by a picnic nearby in the hills. Check out www.alternativetechnology.org.uk to see how amazing this place is. We plan to travel by train, although if we get enough interested people we can hire a mini bus/coach.
There are also plans to cycle there, so if you fancy exercising those limbs let us know!
Food will be provided, although feel free to bring any tasty treats to add to the feast!
Are you interested in helping start a project to collect unwanted fruit
from gardens and distribute it to individuals and groups who want it?

First formal meeting of SEMA, a new Manchester based campaign
against the expansion of Manchester Airport. They are looking to put
together a coalition of all those opposed to airport expansion -
whether it's on the basis of environmental concerns, pollution, noise
or the other associated impacts.

A day
to learn more about
what the council and the government are(n't) doing about climate
change.
This all day workshop will feature theory on companion planting and
practical on how to use it within the garden for fruit and veg growing.
Tutors will show you how to use plants to produce healthy, fresh fruit
and vegetables, with organic pest and disease control without
chemicals.
Concerned about and/or have unanswered questions about climate change?
Any thoughts about what Manchester should be doing about it?
Then come along on to have your say. All you have to
bring are your questions, energy and ideas of how Manchester could look
and how it should respond to climate change.
This will form the basis of our response and alternative strategy to
Manchester City Council's Climate Change strategy (if they ever get
around to publishing it!)

Due to popular demand we will have a bike day on the last Saturday of every month. Photos of the last one are below.
We have a bunch of second hand bikes that require a bit of attention to get them going again, we want to give 2 more to the Camp for Climate Action, and 3 to Manchester Refugee Support Network - come along to help us with this, or bring your own bike and join in with a skill share. You may also be able to give a good home to one of the bikes yourself.
AfSL will be running a stall at this family-based event where we you can play eco-theme games, grab some freebies and enter our competition to win an eco goody bag. We will also be on hand to answer questions relating to sustainability and provide information to the local community.
