This project has arisen from two main starting points.  One is from my own love of crafting and desire to continue these important skills by passing them on.  I believe that a sustainable way of living is only possible if you have a good working knowledge of making the items you need to live, ie clothes and that people with low incomes can still have ‘luxury’ items- handmade gifts, household items, decoration etc using recycled and reclaimed materials to produce items superior to similar cheap mass produced products.

Transform a pair of old socks into an amazing long armed, long tailed funky monkey.  These monkeys have so much personality, you will fall in love with your creation. They take a bit longer to make than sock monsters, so we’re making them over two sessions on 4 and 11 February.

Sarah Ventress is volunteering her time to develop energy efficiency measures for people living in rented accommodation; this group of people has been shown to be particularly powerless to take actions to make their homes more efficient as often their landlord will be unwilling to assist.  Sarah’s project reward’s green friendly landlords by providing positive publicity to potential tenants.

This Saturday 27th, approximately 90 cherry trees are being planted at Boggart Hole Clough, Blackley.

The trees will join a number of Willow, Ewe, Hazel and Oak. The aim is to a create wildlife corridor between existing woodlands.

If you would like to take part, the planting is taking place roughly between 10am and 12 midday.
