Ashton on Mersey

Ashton-on-Mersey, also called Ashton upon Mersey, is a residential ward in Sale, Trafford. It lies on the south bank of the River Mersey, in the northwestern part of Sale, neighbouring St Marys and Sale Priory, and is situated about 5 miles south of Manchester city centre.

Ashton-on-Mersey is densely populated and the majority of land is under private ownership including the golf course and sports facilities. It has 4.51 hectares of green space and even though the majority is in private ownership, it provides opportunities for residents to access a number of recreational activities. The ward’s only park, Ashton Park, has provision for basketball, bowls and football. The Ashton-on-Mersey Village is a pleasant village with a variety of shops, pubs and restaurants.

We are in the early stages of developing an exciting gardening project! We will help residents of the Syrian House, who are people with mental health problems, to grow their own vegetables. It's an interesting opportunity to learn about gardening, develop your teamwork skills, help others in your community and receive advice on how to live more sustainably.
