Climate change will affect us all. We need to act now to lower our carbon emissions and be prepared for the impact on our communities and local environment.
There are a number of ways to tackle climate change; for example we can look at the amount of energy we use in our daily lives, and choose ways to reduce our own energy use and we can act together in our communities to work out a solution that suits a local area.
Manchester City Council wants you to be part of the solution. Could you inspire and lead people in your neighbourhood to reduce the city’s carbon footprint and make climate change action part of our everyday lives?
If you want to find out more about how your community can work together to improve the environment, live healthier and a more sustainable life – or if you have a great idea for a project in your home, street, community, school, and workplace even in your local park then we want to hear from you!
It could be anything from setting up a car club in your neighbourhood to generating your own energy. Maybe you have knowledge of how to grow your own vegetables and want to train people to do the same. Perhaps you want to encourage your school to set up a walking bus, or maybe you are interested in finding out what‘s going on and how to get involved.
Funding is available for community projects that make a real difference.
We welcome you to come to a free event on Monday 29th June at Manchester Town Hall from 4pm to 8pm. There will be loads of information about climate change and carbon foot printing, how you and your community can get involved in becoming low carbon as well as workshops on how to apply for funding and filling in application forms.
