Ayres Road traders show they care! One shopping street in anOld Trafford neighbourhood will soon be promoting its green credentials. Ayres Road traders will be joining the quest to reduce plastic carrier bag consumption with the help of community action group WOW-OT (War on Waste in Old Trafford. Shoppers who go to Ayres Road from 6 June onwards will be able to buy an environmentally friendly,reusable shopping bag for £1.50. The ‘Ayres Road Cares’ bag has an eye-catching design by local young people and will contribute to reducing carrier bag consumption, save the shopkeepers money by reducing their carrier bag bill and also raise the profile of the Ayres Road businesses.WOW-OT members will be delivering the bags to local traders on 6 June and they will also be on sale at the Centenary Garden event on Northumberland Road, Old Trafford, on Saturday 13 June.

The bags were produced with the aid of a funding award from the ‘Safer, Stronger Communities’ initiative.
