Note: This event has now taken place. The information below was correct when it was written, but may now be out of date.
A public meeting is being held in Stretford to organise againstthe overdevelopment planned as part of the Lancashire County Cricket Ground, tobuild a 140,000 sq foot Tesco store, which would be one of the largest(possible the largest) in the UK.
The meeting is being held close to the store siteand posters and leaflets are being distributed in the Stretfordarea. We'd like to encourage as many people as possible to attend the meetingand get involved in the campaign. Its a new campaign which will be drivenforward by local people.

Background
As you may know a public enquiry upheld TraffordCouncil's decision to refuse plans for a 90,000 sq foot store on this site in2006, yet the company are using the partnership with LCCC and Trafford Councilto try to push through a store that is 50% larger than the store that wasrefused in 2006. The site is about a mile from Stretford Mall and 1.6 milesfrom Chorlton.
