Leagate Allotment Project

AfSL is happy to be involved with an excitingproject in the Urmston/Stretford area.  We are working in partnership withTrafford Council to help convert a disused piece of land at the end of Leagateon the Stretford/Urmston border back into allotments.Having secured just under £5k of funding, weare almost ready to start clearing the site and getting the site ready forSpring 2011, as soon as our water supply is connected.The site backs on to the Mersey valley and isSurrounded by a little brook and there is plenty of wildlife in the area.The site has been disused for 15 years, but was once originallyallotments, that stopped being used because of the lack of water.  Community payback scheme have beenworking to clear the site.  Ideasfor the future include; separate individual allotments, community allotmentarea, apiary, wild area, orchard and possibly even chickens or pigs! If you would like to get involved in helpingout on the community allotment or helping develop the site, please contactFiona Gilmore using the contact form below.   AfSL is happy to be involved with a new and exciting project that is starting up in the Urmston/Stretford area.  We are working in partnership with Trafford Council to help convert a disused piece of land at the end of Leagate on the Stretford/Urmston border back into allotments.The site backs on to the mersey valley and is surrounded by a little brook, with plenty of wildlife in the area.  The site has been disused for 15 years, but was once originally allotments, that stopped being used because of the lack of water on site. The community payback scheme have completely cleared the site.  Now we are planning what to do with the available land, ideas include; 10 separate individual allotments, community allotment area, apiary, wild area, orchard and possibly even chickens or pigs! If you would like to get involved in helping out on the community allotment or helping develop the site (we will be organising tree-planting days in the near future).  Please contact Fiona Gilmore or Tekla Szerszynka using the contact form below.
