People & Planet at Manchester Metropolitan University was initiated following AfSL's 'Do It In The Dark' energy and waste project, which was run in halls of residence in partnership with Emerge Recycling. MMU P&P was given start-up facilitation and support from AfSL and the two have now worked together on a number of projects and awareness raising events, most notably the Small Steps Calendars and Sound Impact eco-clubnight. There are People & Planet groups at over 55 UK universities and colleges. They are run by students and are the core of the People & Planet network. They campaign and raise awareness about the global issues that matter to them by having speakers, debates, quizzes, colourful demonstrations, boycotts, club nights and more. MMU P&P is one of the best! |
