Beyond the Tipping Point? explores this question through a series of enlightening and provocative interviews with people from a wide variety of backgrounds and perspectives. From international climate experts at the Met Office to social justice campaigners in Bangladesh; from Plane Stupid activists to members of a Buddhist community. From protests at the UN climate talks in Copenhagen, to an eco-village in South Wales.This is not another film about the science or the facts about global warming. It asks a deeper set of questions about time, ethics and the imagination. Could there ever be a point after which all action comes too late? Does apocalyptic imagination generate despair, or galvanise political responses to crisis? Are tipping points shaping the way we think and talk about the future?The film was produced and directed by Dr. Stefan Skrimshire, a researcher in Philosophy of Religion in the School of Arts, Histories and Cultures at The University of Manchester. It is part of the Future Ethics research project, 2007-2010.
