Calling all Didsbury Foodies Attention budding masterchefs, young and old - here's your chance to feature in an exciting new recipe book! Spring 2011 will mark the launch of Didsbury Dinners: The Low-Carbon Community Cookbook. The book will showcase recipes from real Didsbury folk, made from locally-sourced ingredients, and will be on sale in Didsbury and surrounds. The gold-standard dish will make use of local, non-packaged organic produce, be based around plant foods, and - naturally - will taste great! If we all ate this way, each one of us would produce 1.8 tonnes less global warming gases each year.
Here's how you can get involved. Email your recipe to didsburydinners@yahoo.co.uk or jot it down and place it in the recipe in one of the 'ballot boxes' in Didsbury Library or Didsbury Park Sure Start Centre. Don't forget to include your name and address, and your age if you're under 18. Try to include a note about why the recipe is special to you, and any local angle, such as the apples being from your grandma's tree on Palatine Road, or that the dish is best enjoyed in winter! All contributions will be acknowledged as soon as possible after the deadline closes, at the end of January. Good luck! If you'd like to help with the project in other ways, such as writing copy, distributing postcards on food sustainability, or joining our taste panel, please contact Amanda via the email address given above.
