AfSL Website development

Help us create an online community of people who are taking small steps to change the world, by volunteering 2 hours/ week in our web development group.

We're totally redesigning our existing website using the
Drupal content management system. We've chosen to use Drupal because it has lots of features to enable networking within and between AfSL's action groups, volunteers and clients; is open source, so it's free and not making profits for Microsoft; and is well-supported by developers, so it's going to develop further and there's lots of online help available.
We're looking for volunteers who are interested in doing one or more of the following:
  • Setting up website functions using Drupal (Eg forums, site structure, layout) - ideally you will have experience of setting up or specifying a website, but we would also welcome people with no experience who are interested in learning by doing
  • Transferring the content of the current AfSL website into Drupal - most of this can be done by simple cutting and pasting. A basic knowledge of html would be handy, but if you don't have this it will be an opportunity to pick up some new knowledge
  • Road testing the website - trying out different parts of the website and telling us how user friendly etc. it is. No prior experience required!
  • Administering the website when it is up and running - moderating forums, backing up data. No prior experience required!
  • Programming - we need a PHP programmer to set up some form/data handling routines.
General information about Drupal can be found at http://drupal.org/handbooks
