Thanks to all residents who visited our information stand at Timber Wharf on 11th December 2007. We really enjoyed talking to you about sustainability issues and hope to organise another event at Timber Wharf in the spring. Plastic & cardboard recycling facilities – There isn’t currently a collection service for plastic or cardboard as we don't have a site where our materials are sorted so this means that our vehicle are only adapted to take three items which are currently paper, glass and cans. There are facilities being built in the next year or so that will then enable us to collect more materials but until then we can only advise on how to reduce the amount of plastic and cardboard that people use and to use the bring sites on the local supermarkets eg Hulme Asda. Compostable recycling - Residents can purchase a wormery details and information can be found on www.recyclenow.com/compost. Accessible recycling bins - The bins have been located in the car park due to the fact that there is a chute system and there is insufficient space in the actual chute rooms to put the bins. We do appreciate that not everyone will take their recycling into the car park but it is difficult to locate them anywhere else within the building. If any residents have any suggestions of an alternative locations please speak to Glyn Poole the building manager. |
