Hi, I joined AFSL as Flixton's LPM in autumn 08 after Helen approached me at our school's Eco Fair. The school fair was a good way for our school to reach out the local community to address local sustainable issues. Action for Nature, Sustrans, Sure Start, United Utilities and Keele University's Climate Change representative, Lucy Gallagher came along and met our families. Since then our school council has developed into an Eco-School council and the Eco-committee has joined with other school committees to make a "Friends" group, putting sustainability at the heart of every action. The Friends group meets every half term and anyone interested can come along. Also we have a community wildlife gardening group of volunteers who meet each Sunday morning for just one hour. We are developing the school grounds further and hope to broaden the work into the surrounding area. This is a chance for anyone to come along and learn a bit more about wildlife gardening whilst helping the school grow its own food. -see school website for details- www.st-michaels.trafford.sch.uk
