August
To our lovely team of volunteers,
Welcome to August's update of volunteering activities. If you can lend a hand at any of our events this month - get in touch by emailing volunteer@afsl.org.uk
We have started to month with a change of address, saying hello to Fourways House in Manchester's Northern Quarter. Here's a map and directions to our new digs.
We do not have Internet or phone up and running yet - we will be checking emails less often than usual over the next two weeks. If you need to contact us urgently, please pop 'Urgent' in your email title to bring it to our attention easily.
Wishing you a fun August, here's to seeing you soon!

 | 2 New Vacancies at Action for Sustainable Living! Full time (35 hours per week) | 6 month contract | meets National Minimum Wage. We are advertising for a Press and Media Officer and an Assistant to our Volunteer Coordinator (that's me, she says blushing!) The jobs are part of a government funded youth employment scheme, The Future Jobs Fund. Visit your nearest Job Centre Plus as soon as you possibly can to check your eligibility and register your interest - if you are over 18 and under 30 and have been claiming job seekers you could be eligible, the job centre has recently relaxed the rules. There are no nasty application forms to do, everyone gets an interview, so if you fancy a nice cuppa at ours and who knows 6 month's more brews, get your skates on! Find out more here http://www.afsl.org.uk/fjf Deadline for application 17/08/2010 |

| Cleveley Allotments Sundays throughout August | Chorlton We need extra hands to help clear the site planned for a communal allotment at Cleveleys Avenue. This will mainly involve clearing the site of rubble, discarded waste and weeds. Spades and forks are limited at the site so please bring along your own if you have one. Stout boots and gloves are also recommended, as are pack lunches and sun cream if you intend to spend along day in the ever-surprising British sun. It is a large piece of land and so the more volunteers the merrier! Hope to see you there! *All helpers must be either registered as volunteers with Action for Sustainable Living, or members of the Cleveley Allotment Society to help out. |
