SUST Swap Shop

Following the success of the Clothes Amnesty at SUST Fashion Show 06, a group of AfSL volunteers got together to coordinate a regular Swap Shop which started in Oct 07. The first event was also a fantastic success with lots of positive feedback from the 60 attendees and 12 bags of excess clothing generated for charity shops. The group now meets regularly to expand the event to new and dizzying heights! The SUST Swap Shop is a sister event to SUST Fashion Show. |
Small Steps Calendar 2007/2008

AfSL were contracted by MMU and People & Planet to coordinate the production of a second Small Steps academic calendar for students starting at the university. AfSL staff and volunteers worked together to produce the content which covered twelve different sustainable living topics and included interesting facts, important dates and top tips - plus original contributions from local artists and MMU's own students. The calendar was printed using 50% recycled and 50% sustainable forest… [more about this project] |

I'm going to be working with the local community of Withington to promote sustainability in the area, which I'm really looking forward to! I think it's really important to target those groups who wouldn't usually get involved with issues surrounding sustainability, so will be looking to put on diverse events and projects to engage them. I studied Environmental Science at university to learn more about environmental issues, and have previously worked with the Woodcraft Folk, a fantastic educational youth organisation. |
