Flixton is a village and now an electoral ward of Urmston. In industrial times, it held more influence than its now much bigger neighbour Urmston which was mostly fields. As a result Flixton has a park and gardens and Flixton House, a grade II listed building. The history of the house includes one of the first footpath battles in England, when in 1826 the owner closed several footpaths across his estate.

Hi I'm Alison, Local Project Manager (LPM) for Flixton.I work full time as aLecturer at Salford University and have a background in Nursing. I have lived in Flixton for 8 years and think it is an intersting area with arich heritage and friendly residents. I have been very interested in environmental issues since having my first child over twenty years ago and see value in local community action. I welcome the opportunity to work alongside fellow Flixtonians in taking small steps towards sustainability here in the Flixton area. |
