The Jamaica Day festival is an annual event held in
Longford Park in Stretford which showcases local
community projects whilst celebrating the influence of
Jamaican culture on the local area.
The Action for Sustainable Living stall was a popular
presence throughout the day. We gave away more
than 50 energy-saving lightbulbs, and 21 save-a-flushes.
The coconut shies were also a big hit with the kids.
The stall was ran by our Stretford LPM Johanna Burden,
assisted by Alison Cavanagh and Kym Cooper. The hard
work they put in all day resulted in us receiving 57
signed pledge sheets from visitors to the stall - a
fantastic number!
