I am the LPM for St Michaels, Aigburth, Liverpool. I love getting out and meeting people in the community. My role involves providing advice on sustainable living and helping local people to take steps to lower their carbon footprint and get involved in events, action groups and projects. I started a local networking consortium in December 2008 and out of the meetings of this group came the need to set up an online networking group for local Green groups. I have started up a clothing swap shop to encourage recycling of clothes, after completing a sucessful mini swap shop with schoolchildren at the Anglican cathederal as part of Liverpool's year of the environment. Foodcycle is our local composting project which aims to set up weekly kitchen waste collections for residents of St Michaels without the ability to compost their own kitchen waste. Personally I try to put sustainable living into practice in my day to day life. I try to think about where my household and consumables come from and am a great fan of ethical fashion. I love cooking and get my ingredients through my local farmers market, and veg box scheme. It is good to know where your food comes from and this way it tastes so much better. I am also a user of ethical banking, as I think it is important to make a stand and take your money where it will do some good and ensure it is not used to fund unethical organisations. Please contact me if you would like to know more about any of my action groups or projects, or if you would like any advice on any aspect of sustainable living. |
