This group is for people interested in, or with experience of day to day administration and management of websites.
It is working on the following:
- Setting up areas of the website for use by different groups (Eg action groups, AfSL internal groups (staff, volunteers etc) to publicise their activities, post information, discuss issues, provide contact info etc) that can be customised to some extent Eg logos. This will provide a useful service that we can offer as part of our support "package" for action groups, and enable more people to generate website content directly. The task is to identify and liase with an action group and an internal AfSL group (probably Local Project Managers) to pilot use of the website. Then roll out the facility to other groups. This will need to bear in mind work on a bulletin board which is already in progress in Old Trafford.
- Doing background research and writing specifications for other developments that are planned:
- Setting up an exchange type system so that people with skills, experience and time can be matched to things that others need help with. Initially this will help AfSL to manage its volunteers more effectively. Later it will provide a service for action groups
- Setting up some sort of geographical location finder (Eg maps, postcode search, hierarchical menu) to help people find action groups, events, people with similar interests etc in their locality, so that the website can still "work" as AfSL expands to other localities
- Setting up some sort of email out/SMS text function that will alert people to events, information etc. that is likely to be of interest to them or be in their locality. This will enable AfSL to build on initial contacts and provide a better service.
- Automating production and distribution of AfSL's e-newsletter
If you would like to help with any of these tasks, please subscribe to this group and contact the administrator
