War on Waste Old Trafford (WOW OT) is launching a new initiative/campaign and is focusing its efforts on making sure that plastic bag use in Old Trafford is reduced to a minimum.
Following in the famous footsteps of Modbury in Devon, which managed to ban all plastic bags from May 1 last year, WOW OT would like to survey shopkeepers and shoppers on Ayres Road about alternatives to plastic bags. On Saturday 7th June between 12.00 and 14.00 the WOW OT team will be on Ayres Road. The aim of the event is to get to know how people feel about plastic bags. People will be asked to fill a short questionnaire to determine if they are happy to opt for a cotton re-usable bag and if they would be happy to buy one from shops?
Trafford Borough Council has kindly donated 50 cotton bags for the event which will be given to the first 50 people who will fill in the questionnaire. The information collected will be presented to both the Council and the shoppers on Ayres Road.
