Stretford

bird's eye view of Stretford

Stretford is a densely populated ward in Trafford, with the M60 motorway and the Bridgewater Canal running through it. It is bordered by the wards of Urmston, Gorse Hill and Longford, with the River Mersey forming the southern boundary. Stretford has a large area of greenbelt land which forms part of the Mersey Valley. To the south west lie Kickety Brook and Stretford Ees, including part of the Trans Pennine Trail, which are natural habitats for wildlife. AfSL is new to Stretford. We aim to provide residents with advice and help on green issues, to enable people to live more sustainably.

Johanna Burden, Local Project Manager for Stretford

Johanna Burden

Since returning from traveling where I spent several months living alongside a tribe of Fijians on an Eco island learning about their customs and traditions and teaching them and the local Fijians about sustainable living I am keen to carry on in this field in the UK. I hope that this position will allow me to help inform individuals and local communities the importance of living responsibly and providing them with the tools to do so. I am also hoping to use this position to aid in the regeneration of stretford in particular buildings such as longford cimema and other community buildings.
