AfSL is working on an initiative to encourage sustainable living and support and encourage existing action on Climate Change in the Heatons.
The people we meet often mention they feel powerless to make a real difference. Over half of the UK’s carbon emissions are being created by us and the lifestyles that we live. In the UK households alone are responsible for around 25% of our total Carbon emissions. (DEFRA 2008).
We want to help people to see that no matter what their role - householder, shopper, commuter or holiday taker - they can make a difference.
Funded through the Environmental Partnership, Stockport Council and Action for Sustainable Living are working together over the next 12 months to help people make a difference in the Heatons area of Stockport by helping individuals and their communities find local solutions to local sustainability problems.

"I find sustainable living is easy living. To me it means letting the train take the strain while you relax, chat with your friends and enjoy the scenery rather than battle road rage and get stuck in traffic. It means cycling or walking to work saving the time, effort and money (!) having to go to the gym. It means everyone taking little steps and together making a big difference" Sarah - member of Sustainable Living in the Heatons
