25 Oct 2007 - 6:15pm
25 Oct 2007 - 9:00pm
Friends Meeting House
6 Mount St

Every passing day brings a new Climate Change story on TV. “It's worse than we thought” says a bunch of scientists. “Relax, the market will sort it out” says someone else. Meanwhile, new government and business initiatives spring up all the time, encouraging us to recycle, and offset or trade our carbon emissions. Who can you believe? In the coming months there will be a flurry of activity both in the UK (the draft Climate Bill) and internationally (United Nations' negotiations in Bali, Indonesia). This public meeting is an easy way to get the low-down on the science and politics of Climate Change. The science bit will come from Professor Geraint Vaughan of University. There will be ample time for questions. After a break, there will be short presentations from different campaigning groups active in who want your time and talent! (including Friends of the Earth, Camp for Climate Action, Campaign against Climate Change, Greenpeace, the Green Party and Action for Sustainable Living). Provisional Agenda can be found here A booklet will be available giving information on campaigning groups in and sources of reliable information on climate change. http://www.manchesterclimateforum.org.uk/ manchesterclimateforum [at] googlemail.com LPM: Oxana to attend with stall.
