AfSL can support existing community groups to take action on sustainability, we can also bring different groups together to take action.

We do this by offering talks to groups, or meeting with groups to discuss projects they may want to set up, for example a recycling group or a group to tackle energy issues in the locality. See our Projects and Action Groups sections for more information on the different kinds of work we do with community groups.

At present we have several Local Project Managers working in different communities around Manchester. They will be happy to meet with you and discuss any sustainable living project ideas you have in mind for your locality.

Contact Helen Starr-Keddle to find out more about what AfSL links are available in your community.

SUST Swap Shop

SUST Swap Shop 08 Oct 2007

Following the success of the Clothes Amnesty at SUST Fashion Show 06, a group of AfSL volunteers got together to coordinate a regular Swap Shop which started in Oct 07. The first event on 5 of October 2007 was also a fantastic success with lots of positive feedback from the 60 attendees and 12 bags of excess clothing generated for charity shops. The group supported by AfSL and Manchester Friends of the Earth now meets regularly to expand the event to new and dizzying heights!
