Following the success of the Clothes Amnesty at SUST Fashion Show 06, a group of AfSL volunteers got together to coordinate a regular Swap Shop which started in Oct 07. The first event on 5 of October 2007 was also a fantastic success with lots of positive feedback from the 60 attendees and 12 bags of excess clothing generated for charity shops. The group supported by AfSL and Friends of the Earth now meets regularly to expand the event to new and dizzying heights! The SUST Swap Shop is a sister event to SUST Fashion Show. The second Swap Shop took place 6 of December, Thursday, at the 8th Day Cafe. The next Swap Shop, supported by Friends of the Earth, the University of Fairtrade Society and the 8th Day will take place during the Fair Trade Fortnight on the 5th of March, 6-8 pm, at 8th Day Cafe. Clothes drop off from 6 pm to 6.30. Swapping from 6.30 to 8 pm. Volunteers are welcome to join the Action Group as members of the Planning Group or as on-the-day volunteers. Everyone is also invited to swap clothes on the 5th of March! |
