Volunteer Mentors

Your Local Volunteer Contact

Mentors in our localities volunteer to help people get involved and find out what's happening in their area. They act as a point of contact for local volunteers in the community. Volunteer Mentors recruit, induct and support local people to attend issue-based action groups, and encourage individuals and other groups to take action on sustainable living. If you would like to find out what volunteering activities you can get involved with close to your home or would like some added support to volunteer please see below for a list of local Volunteer Mentors and details of where they are active.

Louise Allen, Volunteer Mentor

Louise Allen

I moved to Manchester to become involved with the increasingly active sustainability community here. To me, the aspect of sustainability that is most important is that it revolves around people respecting people, animals and the environment. That and experimenting with making yummy vegetarian, seasonal food and getting my feet dirty building with cob!  As a Volunteer Mentor for AfSL I hope to encourage people to think about the effects of their actions, to educate them about sustainable living and provide enthusistic support to those wishing to become more sustainable.
